Welcome to NegrilVilla.com and NegrilGuestHouse.com, the internet home of
the Negril Guest House, located in the Whitehall Housing Scheme in Negril,
Jamaica, West Indies.
Also known as Negril Villa, the guest house is not a large villa but actually a
very modest private home "right in the neighbourhood", with striking views of
the famous Negril beach, the Whitehall environs and the beautiful blue
Caribbean.
The house is a typical Jamaican board home, with one large room with a double
bed, a single bed, and a large table and chair set, a bathroom with shower and
laundry tub area, and a complete kitchen with stove, large fridge and
coffeemaker, dishes and utensils. A small CD player, radio and TV are also
provided. A private driveway allows secure parking and easy access to the side
door entrance.
The house is suited for those wanting an authentic local experience along with
outstanding value. Couples, dive buddies, solo travelers, researchers and
students will enjoy the local vibe and relative quiet of the neighbourhood
while appreciating the easy access to the beach road, the West End, Red
Ground and downtown. For divers, note that all of Negril's scuba dive
operators offer shuttle service to and from the guest house. Taxis are readily
available.
On the same street, neighbourhood shops... often a single room attached to
the family home, offer last-minute items like flour, oil, eggs, fruits and veggies,
phone cards, lighters, water, soda and Red Stripe. The Red Dragon bar, with its
unique mix of colourful locals, ex-pats and travelers in the know, featuring jerk
pork made daily, is an enjoyable 10 minute walk over the hill.
As the Negril Guest House is a local home, all potential guests will be screened
prior to any lodging agreement. The home is not for those who need white
glove treatment, turn down service at night, and a gourmet chef on site. It is for
those who will sit in the open doorway at dawn with a freshly brewed cup of
Blue Mountain coffee, watching the changing colours of the sea as the sun
rises, observing the activity in town picking up as the locals start their day, and
smile as the noisy hen and her chicks make their way to the doorstep, hoping
for some bread crumbs or a handful of corn flakes. It is for those who prefer an
authentic travel experience over the scripted activities of a resort.
